What It's Really Like to Spend a Month in Palomino (2026)

Updated: 2 days ago

Most people come to Palomino for three days. Then they extend. I'm Paola — I've been coming here for over 30 years and living here since 2017 — and after hosting digital nomads at Casa Aloha, I can tell you the ones who stay a month are the ones who actually get to know this place.

This is exactly what a month at Casa Aloha looks like, what it costs, and who it's for.

Why a month, not a week

A week in Palomino is a holiday. A month is a life. In a week you see the river and the beach. In a month you know which juice stand opens early, which café has the best breakfast, and what the beach looks like at 6 a.m. before anyone's awake. You stop being a visitor.

For remote workers, a month is also when the math works: your routine settles, your work rhythm finds itself, and the cost per night drops significantly.

Your room

A private room with a private bathroom and a real wooden desk — not a table in the corner, a proper workspace with natural light where you can spend eight hours without your back hating you. A 1.60m bed in natural wood. Room cleaning, sheets and towels changed twice a week.

We host a maximum of 6 guests at a time. This is not a hostel. It's a quiet house where you can actually think.

The internet — the part that matters most

Starlink 200 Mbps with solar backup and a power generator. Power cuts happen in Palomino, and most places go dark. Here, your calls don't drop. If you're coming to work, this is the difference between a month that works and a month that doesn't.

"The room was lovely and the setting perfect for remote work. It was very comfortable and there was also a nice outdoor space to relax. The wifi was excellent too and even kept working during power cuts! Thank you so much for the stay." Jade — England, UK
"The room is so beautiful, carefully furnished, with enough space to unpack, a great desk and a useful mosquito net. Paola and her partner are very kind and gave me tips for nice places to see. The location is excellent, very close to everything but nice and quiet. No music nearby. That was the best part." Kira — Berlin, Germany
"Paola is very kind, always answered my questions on time and gave me good recommendations. The internet was available for work whenever I needed it." Alexandra — Bogotá, Colombia

"The place is beautiful and pleasant, with good places to eat nearby. Even if the power goes out, they always have internet and a good connection." Juan David — Colombia

The kitchen

A shared kitchen with your own space to store your food, and all the utensils you need to cook. Living here for a month means you cook some days and eat out others — that's what makes a month affordable and what makes it feel like living, not travelling.

Your day here

Because Palomino is small and walkable, your routine opens up. Run on the beach before you start. If you work European hours, you're free by 1 p.m. — a full afternoon of surf, river or hammock. If you work American hours, you finish at 6 or 8 p.m. and you're a 10-minute walk from a good dinner or a sunset swim. No commute, no traffic, no evening lost.

That's the part people don't expect: the after-work is as good as the work is productive.

Who this is for

People who work remotely and want to be somewhere real. Writers, developers, designers, founders — anyone who needs reliable internet, a quiet room and nature 10 minutes away. It's not for people who want nightlife or a resort. It's for people who want to work well and live better.
